Beaver Dam Daily Citizen logo

I started writing for The Beaver Dam Daily Citizen in 2013. The daily newspaper serves the communities of Beaver Dam, Mayville, Horicon, Waupun and Juneau. My main focus is Beaver Dam, Horicon and Juneau city government. Since starting, I’ve also had multiple month long stints covering Beaver Dam school board and Dodge County courts.

Volume One logo

In the summer of 2012, I started working as an intern at Volume One in Eau Claire, Wis. and even before that I was a consistent contributor.

I aided the editorial staff with their annual “Going Green” issue. Once my internship ended, I continued to report on interests to the Eau Claire area that involved the quirky, business, music and food.

My past articles can be found here.

As a student at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, I wrote for two publications. One was the university newspaper, The Spectator and the other was a student-led newsroom that published a digital new website called Inside Eau Claire.

I was hired by The Spectator as a staff writer and then, in my final semester, worked as a copy editor. There I covered a variety topics such as sports, government, opinion and arts. I also wrote one feature student life piece.

At Inside Eau Claire, I was assigned the position of Assistant City Editor. In this position, I was responsible for assigning stories to reporters, copy editing, helping engage social media and report my own weekly pieces. Prior to my final semester I also produced three long form features that showcases my skills in profile, enterprise and investigative reporting.

Some of my reporting can be found here.
